There are 1,050 Family Winter Adventures available to win. One prize per household. Each Winter Adventure is for a family of four which is classified as EITHER 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children. Please see the terms and conditions below for each prize venue.

TUBING/TOBOGGANING VENUES

ALL BOOKINGS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY, DATES AND TIMES OF SESSION MAY VARY ACCORDING TO THE OPENING HOURS/TERMS.

Locations:

 

  1. The Snow Centre: Hemel Hempstead

30-minute tubing session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 16 years old). 4+ years old. 

Warm, waterproof clothing is recommended, as well as waterproof gloves. The Ringo Slide is available at weekends throughout the year, and selected dates throughout the school holidays.  If warm waterproof clothing or gloves need to be hired this will be at an additional cost for the winner, clothing is not included as part of the prize. For all activities we recommend that you arrive at Check-In at least 30 minutes before your start time in order to allow plenty of time to change and obtain your equipment.

  1. Guildford Ski Slope: Guildford

60-minute tubing session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 15 years old). 6+ years old.

Donutting public sessions are open from September to the end of the Easter holidays from 1-2pm and 4-5pm. This is a public session with up to 15 people using the slope at one time. Please note that ideally all sessions should be booked in advance to ensure availability. 

WHAT TO BRING

For safety reasons everyone will need long sleeves, trousers, gloves, trainers or other sturdy shoes, and all under 16s will also need to bring a helmet (bicycle or similar). 

MAIN RULES

  1. Christ’s College Ski Club reserves the right to alter prices and cancel courses without prior warning.
  2. Junior prices apply up to date of 16th birthday only.
  3. Christ’s College Ski Club accepts no responsibility for injury or loss to persons or property whilst using the facilities.
  4. No coaching is permitted during open practice sessions except by a member of staff.
  5. Christ’s College Ski Club reserves the right to terminate a lesson if your instructor feels your safety or the safety of other people on the slope is at risk.
  6. All our instructors have undergone CRB checks, but as an additional child protection measure a parent (or other responsible adult) must remain on site if a child aged 16 or under is having a lesson when there is only one member of staff present at the centre.

 

  1. Snozone: Milton Keynes & Castleford

45-minute tobogganing session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 12 years old). 3+ years old. 

Please note children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied on the slopes by a paying adult. Gloves or mittens must be worn – we have these available to purchase if you don’t own any. We also recommend you wear snow boots or wellies and warm socks otherwise you may find yourself with wet, cold feet! Snozone asks you to arrive 1 hour before your activity starts. If you are not ready with your clothing and equipment within 5 minutes of the activity start time, Snozone reserves the right to refuse you admission as you will miss the health & safety briefing.

  1. Snow Trax Alpine Activity Centre: Christchurch, Dorset – min. age 3 and over 1 meter tall

30-minute tubing or tobogganing session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 16 years old). Age restriction: 3+ years old. Height restriction: must be over 1m tall (3ft 3″). 

Gloves, long-sleeve tops and trousers and closed shoes advisable. In busy periods (weekends and school holidays) there may be a wait for equipment, we thank you for your patience and will do our very best to accommodate you. Ski Bobs and Ringos will be unsupervised on weekdays from 9am-5pm during school term times.

Toboganning

Our Swiss Bob toboggans are great fun especially for kids, and are used on a safe carpeted slope away from the ski slopes, close to the ski lodge.

Kids from 4 years onwards can have a go – no experience is necessary.  

You are welcome to come along and toboggan at most times, however we recommend groups of 4 or more to book in advance or phone ahead to check availability as peak times can be busy. 

What you need to bring!

GLOVES - Gloves are essential for tobogganing so please bring some along with you - we do have a box of assorted ones if you forget!

LONG SLEEVES & TROUSERS - Not essential but we do recommend that arms and legs are covered, as you can swerve and roll off the toboggans.

CHANGE OF CLOTHES or WATERPROOFS - the toboggans run better in wet & rainy conditions so we recommend a change clothes or waterproofs are as you may get wet. 

Please note! - All our activities run in all weathers - toboggans, skis and ringos run faster in the rain…and even faster in the snow! 

 

Tubing/Ringo

Minimum age of 8

Ringo sessions are available at most times, however, they are instructor led, so booking essential. Please call for availability and to confirm your booking.

Sessions run for 1 hour (Approx.’ 50 minutes slope time) on the hour or on the half hour.

A group of 4 people is required to run a Ringos session, although we will try to accommodate 1’s, 2’s & 3’s if a session is going to run with another group. 

Ringos are very popular and subject to slope availability, so we strongly recommend contacting us in advance to make a booking and avoid any disappointment. 

Gloves, long sleeve top & trousers must be worn at all times.

Please note! - All our activities run in all weathers - Toboggans, Skis and Ringos run faster in the rain…and even faster in the snow! 

 

  1. Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre: Robinsonwood Hill

30-minute tubing session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 16 years old). 4+ years old. 

“Tubes”, also known as ‘ringos’ and ‘doughnuts’ are large inflatable rings which can be spun and linked together to slide down the slopes. They are safe, fun and another great way of enjoying snowsports! Popular for all ages, they need no prior experience. Every person that uses our slope must have a long sleeve top, trousers & gloves. 

 Times: Every day at odd hours (11:00, 13:00, 15:00 etc) 

 

  1. Chatham Snowsports Centre John Nike Leisure Sport: Gillingham

Winners can choose between a family tubing or tobogganing session. 

Tobogganing:

 2 runs on the toboggan for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 16 years old). 4+ years old. 

Children aged between 4-7 years have to ride with an adult aged 16 and over, with the adult being in control at all times. Children over the age of 8 must ride on their own. Please wear clothing suitable for an outdoor activity. The ride can get busy at peak times. We will try to inform you the waiting times at the time of purchasing tickets. 

Tubing:

30-minute session is available for 2 adults and 2 children (up to 16 years old). 4+ years old. If your child may struggle taking their Sno-Tube up the hill themselves, then parents are more than welcome to help them carry the tube up the slope.

For Sno-Tubing it is as simple as dressing for the weather. We are a rain or shine slope, we would only stop a session if there was thunder and lightning due risk of being on a hill in such a storm. We recommend long sleeves and trousers. Trainers or equivalent shoes are a must.

Our ratios are 1-16. This means an Open Tubing session is full once 16 people are booked on.

For taking part in tobogganing, outdoor clothing is required. Sensible footwear is essential i.e. shoes with good grip on the soles, no heels and no open-toed sandals. We do not rent any clothing to participants.

The sno-tubes are strictly one rider per tube. Children between 4-7 years sit in their own tubes for the sno-tubing activities but must ride with an adult (aged 16 years and over) on the toboggan at no charge to the adult. The adult must be in control of the toboggan at all times. Children aged 8 years and over must ride the toboggan alone. 

The activities are all outdoors and will run unless affected by extreme weather conditions such as heavy snow, high winds or storms. In this case we may need to move your booking or request you keep toboggan tickets for use on another occasion. 

The centre will always endeavour to accommodate special needs or disabled visitors. We do ask that you call the centre and speak to a manager before your visit to discuss requirements and avoid disappointment. Please be advised that we do not have lift access to the first-floor alpine lodge restaurant where all parties eat, however there is disabled access via a pathway outside. 

PENGUIN ENCOUNTER VENUES

  1. ZSL London Zoo

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 8 years old and under the age of 16 years old); however, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult who also has a valid Meet the Penguins experience ticket.  

This experience will give you special access to a VIP area inside Penguin Beach, where our penguins will waddle over to meet you. An expert zoo keeper will be on hand throughout the experience to tell you everything you ever wanted to know about our penguins. 

Your experience:

 Please be aware we are unable to offer this experience during August and September as this is our penguin's moulting season. 

Meet the Penguins takes place daily at 1:50pm, Monday – Sunday from October through to July.

  1. Chester Zoo

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children over the age of 5 years old however only the 2 children are to participate and the 2 parents/guardian as spectators.  The Encounter is available for adults and children over the age of 5 years old, however children between the ages of 5 to 15 years old must be accompanied by a spectating parent or guardian paying normal zoo admission (1 adult per 1 child). The spectating parent or guardian will not enter the animal habitat.

Encounter will last approx. 30 mins. There may be 1 other participant taking part in the same Encounter.

  1. Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children over the age of 8 years old. The encounter will be spilt into two slots as the penguin encounter is limited to 2 people per session. 

This encounter allows you to get close to our South American Humboldt penguins as you join the zoo keeper at one of their daily feeds. Participants are taken to the pool side area where a bucket of fish will be provided to throw into the water to feed the penguins. Any spectators are able to watch from the viewing bridge above the penguin pool. This encounter is particularly popular during the winter months so early booking is recommended!

Tour Information:

Location: Meeting point next to the pygmy goats outside Muddy Duck Farm

Time: 12:00pm and 3:30pm during our main season and winter opening. One of our Zoo Keepers will meet participants before taking them to the penguin enclosure. Please ensure that you have your ticket available.

Duration: 20 to 30 minutes

Exclusions: The Penguin Encounter is limited to 2 people per session and is offered subject to availability.

Participants must be a minimum of 8 years old, and under 12s must be accompanied by an adult with another place on the encounter. Unaccompanied under 12s will not be permitted to take part in the encounter.

 Please ensure that you are wearing sensible footwear and waterproof clothing as most encounters take place outdoors. 

Spectators are welcome but are not permitted into the animal enclosures and must pay admission into the park. 

  1. South Lakes Safari Zoo

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 7 years old and under the age of 16 years old). Duration of experience approx. 20-30 minutes. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by a paying adult for this experience. Entry to the park is included in the price. 

Health & Safety Rules

You must pay attention at all times and obey the instructions given to you by your Keeper.

You must not do anything that you have not been told to do.

You will not be left by yourself at any time, in the unlikely event of this happening, please stay where you are until your Keeper returns to you. You should stay with your supervising keeper at all times and not wander off.

Throughout your stay do not attempt to touch any animal, unless instructed to do so by your Keeper. That means no poking your fingers through any fences!

For your safety, you must stand where your keeper tells you and you must not enter any area unless you are told to do so.

Any accident or injury should be reported to supervising keeper immediately.

In the event of an emergency you should follow the instructions of your supervising keeper. If you become separated you should make your way to the cafe.

You are not allowed to use your mobile phone when you are taking part, however cameras are strongly encouraged. 

Hygiene Rules: 

You must not eat any of the food intended for the animals.

If you trip and get a scratch or bite in any of the animal areas, it doesn’t matter how small it is, you must tell the Keeper you are with, as it will need to be cleaned thoroughly by a First Aider. 

If you already have a cut you must make sure that it is covered properly with a plaster or other suitable covering.

When you have been in any of the animal areas, you are to wash your hands thoroughly before you enter the next area.

You are not allowed to eat or drink when you are in an animal area, and as always you must wash your hands before eating your lunch. 

Winners will need to fill out an experience disclaimer before taking the Penguin encounter at South Lakes Safari Zoo. 

  1. Dudley Zoological Gardens

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 8 years old and under the age of 15 years old); any child participants 8-15 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

All participants must complete and sign a Health & Safety checklist on the day of the experience. Due to animal welfare issues your choice of animal experience may not be available. If this is the case, an alternative experience will be offered. Valid on Tuesdays & Fridays only.

  1. Drusillas Park

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 6 years old and under the age of 16 years old) however only the 2 children are to participate and the 2 parents/guardian as spectators. Lasts approx. 3- 40 mins. The penguin feeding experience takes place at 3:45pm. Participants will be provided with a special Close Encounter Animal Experience badge and certificate to take home as a souvenir of the experience. 

Bookings for Close Encounter Animal Experiences are available daily throughout the year, except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. In instances where a voucher has been purchased please check your voucher category (Gold or Silver) for date restrictions. 

Cancellation policy - please note we do not offer refunds. 

Terms and Conditions of Business

  1. The minimum age to participate in a Close Encounter is 6 years old.
  2. The participant must have an up to date tetanus vaccination.
  3. Encounters are available for one or two participants.
  4. Two participants must be the same group or family, and booked at the same time.
  5. Close Encounter participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid day ticket or annual membership.
  6. In circumstances where the participant has special needs and is over 16, a carer must accompany them throughout the experience (carers must be aged 18+).
  7. With the exception of the parent, guardian or carer (in the case of participants aged over 16 with special needs) guests are not permitted behind the scenes.
  8. No smoking or chewing of gum is permitted in the public areas.
  9. Please wear appropriate clothing – jeans, T–shirt, jumper or sweatshirt and appropriate waterproof coat or jacket.
  10. Please wear appropriate waterproof footwear – trainers or wellington boots.

 Health and Safety 

All animals naturally carry a range of microorganisms, some of which can be transmitted to humans where they may cause ill health.  The animals also have the potential to cause harm through biting, scratching and their physical presence.  Therefore, it is essential that those taking part in Keeper for the Day follow closely the instructions given.  Behind the scenes at Drusillas there are other work activities being carried out which may present a risk if these guidelines are not followed. 

  1. Cover existing cuts and abrasions on exposed skin with waterproof dressings and the disposable gloves provided.
  2. Smoking, eating or drinking is only allowed in the designated rest areas.
  3. Do not eat any of the food intended for the animals.
  4. Hands should be washed at every opportunity, especially before eating, drinking or smoking and before leaving Drusillas.
  5. Always use the disposable gloves provided when instructed.
  6. During the day you should avoid putting you face close to the animals, placing your fingers in your mouth or kissing the animals.
  7. You should remain in close contact with the Zoo Keeper who you are working with, and not wander off.
  8. You must not enter an animal enclosure without specific instruction from the Zoo Keeper.
  9. No jewellery other than ear studs is permitted.
  10. Long hair should be tied back.
  11. High-heeled shoes should not be worn.
  12. Any accident or injury should be reported to the Zoo Keeper immediately so that appropriate action can be taken and First Aid provided.
  13. In the event of an emergency you should follow the instructions of the Zoo Keeper. If you become separated leave the area by the nearest emergency exit and make your way to the assembly point in the car park.

 

  1. Bristol Zoo Gardens

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 6 years old and under the age of 14 years old) however only 2 people are to participate and 2 to be spectators, dependent on ages as below.

This experience is available for adults and children over the age of 6 years old, however children between the ages of 6 to 14 years old must be accompanied by a spectating parent/guardian.

Only one child aged 6-14 years may take part in a Penguin Meet and Greet for Two experience; the other participant must be aged 15 years or over.

Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies; pregnant women; and immunocompromised individuals. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved; please contact Bristol Zoo for advice if needed.

Please note your family member/friend will not be able to join you in any of the enclosures, if they would like to take photographs this is allowed.

Please note: bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order for us to prepare for your experience.  All animal experiences are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Meet and Greets are unique, one-on-one experiences. They last for half an hour.

The experience will include:

*Please note your family member/friend will not be able to join you in any of the enclosures, if they would like to take photographs this is allowed. If you are purchasing a meet and greet experience for two people then entry to the zoo is included for both participants only.

Cancellations and Amendments

We have a no refund policy for all experiences at Bristol Zoo. If you wish to rearrange or cancel your experience, please note that there may be a charge depending on the notice time.

 

  1. The Zoo Belfast Zoological Gardens

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 10 years old and under the age of 17 years old) however only 2 people are to participate and 2 to be spectators, dependent on ages as below.

Anyone participating in our penguin experience must be aged ten or over and anyone under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while onsite. All children must be accompanied by adults. Normal admission fees will apply to these persons. During the penguin experience, the supervising adult must be present at all times to view their experience from the normal visitors viewing area. However, this adult will not participate in the penguin area.

Our penguin experience operates on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2.15pm.  Our penguin experience can often be fully booked for months in advance.  Dates will therefore very much be subject to availability. 

All Belfast Zoo animal experiences must be pre-booked. All bookings must be made at least 14 days in advance. Full payment is required to secure your booking.

All animal experiences include entry to Belfast Zoo. Check our website for up to date opening times to make sure you get the most out of your visit. You must be at the zoo at the specified time. If you are late you will not be able to take part in the experience and no refund will be offered and no discussions entered into.

Make yourself known to a member of our team on arrival at the zoo. A member of the zoo crew will guide you to the penguin area to meet the keeper or you can arrange to meet a member of the team at the enclosure (this will be decided when you book and must be declared in advance). 

If you wish to visit the zoo before your experience, you must be at the front of the penguin enclosure 15 minutes before your experience is due to begin. 

You must display your ticket to gain access to the penguin experience. Your ticket is non-transferrable and non-refundable. Your ticket can only be used on the date selected. We are not able to change the date. Once purchased, an experience cannot be exchanged for an alternative date and cannot be re-sold.

Due to unforeseen operational and animal care circumstances Belfast Zoo cannot guarantee that all animals and exhibits will be available on the date selected. Belfast Zoo reserves the right to alter or cancel the experience on any given day. Belfast Zoo will give as much notice as possible. However, this cannot always be guaranteed.

  1. Belfast Zoo cannot cover travel, accommodation or any other associated costs if the scheduled date is cancelled.

You must wear suitable clothing and footwear. This includes trousers (not shorts, skirts or dresses) and appropriate clothed toe footwear. Where possible, wellie boots should be worn. Clothing should be in neutral colours and not bright as this can startle the penguin colony. 

You must wear all protective clothing provided by zoo staff (including overalls and gloves). 

For animal care and husbandry reasons, all participants must use a disinfectant footbath before entering and upon leaving the penguin area.

You must abide by staff instructions and safety rules at all times.

You must not enter areas that staff identify as out of bounds or cross any safety barriers during your experience. 

You will be supervised by a member of zoo staff at all times. Due to animal behavioural issues, experiences may vary. 

If you are running late or unable to make the experience due to unforeseen circumstances on the day, please call us on 028 9077 6277. If you have any queries prior to your experience, just let us know. 

If for any unforeseen circumstance your member of staff is late, please be patient. They will be with you as soon as possible and will ensure that you have the full 30-minute experience. 

Belfast Zoo accepts no liability for any person or body for any loss, injury or property damage from any action or cause whatsoever undertaken at the site. 

Our visitor code of conduct applies at all times during the animal experience and while on the zoo site. Belfast Zoo reserves the right to ask any participant to leave the experience or the zoo, should they behave in an inappropriate or unsafe manner. 

It is your responsibility to inform us if you have any medical condition that you, or your doctor feel we should be aware of in order to ensure your safety. Please inform us if you have any allergies (e.g. dust or fur). Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or allergies. visitors who have epilepsy or immunocompromised individuals. 

Pregnant women or those who are breast feeding are unable to participate in our animal experiences. 

Please inform us of any disabilities to enable us to try and adapt our encounters to suit. Unfortunately, the penguin experience is not available to wheelchair users due to the uneven terrain. 

You must not take part in an animal experience if you have convictions relating to animals. You will be supervised at all times during the animal experience. 

Not all penguins will take part in the experience. They have the freedom to choose to participate or not. Food and drink is not permitted in the experience area.

 

  1. Twycross Zoo – min. age 6

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 6 years old and under the age of 16 years old) however only 2 people are to participate and 2 to be spectators. Each child under 16 must be accompanied by one adult. This experience is suitable for wheelchair users. 

All Experiences are valid for the date booked only. If you do not take up your experience on the date booked it cannot be transferred to another date. 

All participants need to wear gloves during the experience and follow all directions given to you by our staff during your animal experiences. Participants must wear sturdy, closed toe shoes. The experience normally takes place during the public penguin parade. Not all penguins will be involved in the experience.

The experience takes place at Penguins at 12.30pm/3.30pm. 

 

  1. Folly Farm – min. age 8

Meet the Penguins is available for 2 adults and 2 children (over the age of 8 years old and under the age of 14 years old) however only 2 people are to participate and 2 to be spectators. Spectators are welcome to watch the animal experience from the public areas but can’t enter the enclosures unless they are accompanying someone under the age of 14.

There will be other people taking part in the experience and please note the penguin experience takes place during the public feeding talk. 

Sensible footwear should be worn as our enclosures may be slippery. Please e advised that clothes may get dirty during the experience.

 

ICE SKATING VENUES

  1. Planet Ice

This ticket admits a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) to one session. It cannot be broken up into multiple sessions. Any further customers in the party will be asked to pay full price. Prices includes skate hire. Redeemable for the dates stated on the voucher.

The Ice-Skating Planet Ice voucher can only be used in an advertised public skating session (customers to check website for session time before leaving).

Family of 4 ticket requires one person to be 16 or over and maximum of three in the party to be under 16. You and your party may be asked for photographic proof of identity and age. Failing to prove your age with photographic proof of identity could result in the family or individual members not gaining access to the session. In this case you will not be offered a refund.

Not to be exchanged for a financial value. Not to be redeemed against any other Planet Ice product or service.

Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children aged 5 -16 years) to take part in public skating session. Public sessions are available 7 days per week with DJ entertainment sessions (featuring state of the art disco lights in a dimmed rink) operating on weeknights and weekends along with selected holidays. (Please note, there will be no DJ on Sunday / Monday evenings). Skate hire is included.

Ice Skating Aids

We offer a range of skating aids to help young children take their first steps on the ice. Penguin skating aids are available to children under 1.20 metres in height (with skates) while snowmen are available to children between 1.20 metres and 1.5 metres (with skates). 

For health and safety of your child and other skaters, we cannot permit skating aids to be used by older children or adults regardless of their ability. 

*Skating aids are available on a first come, first served basis and management reserve the right to withdraw skating aids during busy periods. 

It is advisable to wear something warm and comfortable. We also recommend bringing gloves.
